Dynamsoft Corp. has updated its Dynamic .NET TWAIN software development kit (SDK) to support the use of 32-bit TWAIN scanners from 64-bit .NET applications. The feature adds convenience and robustness since most scanners only provide 32-bit TWAIN drivers. So, developers can create document and image capture applications without extra concern for scan compatibility of 32-bit or 64-bit environments.
The new Dynamic .NET TWAIN SDK is version 5.3. The 32-bit TWAIN scanner support is also ideal because 64-bit applications allow more memory use and can hold more scanned images than 32-bit. Now developers can take advantage of such capabilities without concern whether the scanner is 32-bit or 64-bit. The SDK is ideal for developers to use in creating image capture and processing functionalities within .NET-based document management applications. This includes image captures from TWAIN scanners and DirectShow webcams. Customizable scanning configurations include ADF; duplex; resolution; pixel type; and more. It also enables saving images into a variety of formats that include JPEG, PDF, TIFF, PNG, and BMP to local disk, server, database or document library. The SDK also provides a barcode reader and generator, optical character recognition (OCR), PDF rasterizer, and annotation add-ons.
The PDF rasterizer and barcode generator add-ons were recently added to the Dynamic .NET TWAIN SDK. The PDF add-on is a rasterizer that lets users convert vector PDFs to rasterize images for quick viewing within built applications. The barcode add-on empowers developers to let users add and recognize 1D / 2D barcodes to / from captured images.
"The computing world has largely moved to 64-bit applications but, 32-bit components persist as needed," said Amy Gu, Vice President of Dynamsoft. "Ensuring our Dynamic .NET TWAIN SDK more conveniently supports 32-bit TWAIN scanners, whether from a 32-bit or 64-bit environment, simply helps remove another layer of development for our users. It also provides more compelling reasons to move to 64-bit if you haven’t already."
Dynamic .NET TWAIN is based on Microsoft's .NET framework and the TWAIN library is optimized for use in C# and Visual Basic .NET. It features built-in support for Windows® Forms (WinForms) and Windows® Presentation Foundation (WPF).
