Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., announced today that the first units of the Océ VarioPrint® i300, the first high-speed, sheetfed inkjet press in Canon’s portfolio, have been shipped to four customer sites in the U.S. Canon Solutions America played an integral part in introducing this important new product to the production print market, working closely with customers during the developmental and testing phases, as well as providing support during installation and training.

Based on proven inkjet technology, the Océ VarioPrint i300 fills the speed and capacity gap that exists between conventional high-end toner-based, sheetfed press and entry-level continuous-feed inkjet presses. By doing so, Canon helps print service providers find the right print solution for their needs and creates new market opportunities, applications and transforms business models.

According to Marco Boer, vice president of IT Strategies, a well-known market research and consultancy firm, “Inkjet technology's inherent color productivity benefits have been well proven with continuous feed printing systems. The Océ VarioPrint i300 is best suited for print service providers that are looking for a cost effective sheetfed architecture, optimized for short and high frequency runs, media diversity, and flexibility. The Océ VarioPrint i300 opens an entirely new segment for the printing market and sets the base for many more advancements to come.”

Built with the Voice of the Customer

“As part of Canon’s Lead Customer Program, we worked closely with all participants to test the potential of the Océ VarioPrint i300 and gain valuable insight to help meet the demands of the market,” said Mal Baboyian, executive vice president, Large Format Solutions/Production Print Solutions, Canon Solutions America. “The end result is a press that offers high speed and impressive monthly volumes combined with integrated finishing and quality levels that will help print providers succeed.”

“The Océ VarioPrint i300 digital press offers IWCO a cost effective, efficient, and productive cutsheet platform which complements our continuous digital presses,” said Dave Johannes, senior vice president, Operations, IWCO Direct. “The outstanding image quality, media flexibility, and quick reprint ability will round out IWCO Direct’s inkjet product offerings.”

The first Océ VarioPrint i300 units have been shipped to the four customer sites in the U.S. with general availability of the Océ VarioPrint i300 is slated for summer 2015.
