Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions and a supplier of check capture devices, today announced the availability of the imageFORMULA CR-180II Check Transport device. The successor to the highly regarded Canon CR-180, the CR-180II high-speed desktop check transport offers exceptional feeding reliability, image quality, and production performance for distributed capture and image exchange applications, such as branch capture and remittance processing.

The Canon CR-180II features duplex scanning speeds of up to 180 checks per minute*, a high-capacity 200-document auto feeder, and two output pockets, making it one of the fastest check transports available and ideal for high-volume environments. Using Infrared Double-Feed Detection, the CR-180II easily and reliably handles a wide variety of document types, including payment or deposit slips, carrier envelopes, as well as document batches of mixed dimensions and thicknesses. It has an output resolution of up to 240 dots-per-inch (dpi), including a new 120 dpi grayscale mode. The CR-180II is also bundled with Silver Bullet Image Quality Analysis (IQA) software, which automatically verifies that check image quality is in accordance with Check 21 requirements, and includes a new Black Border Removal function which allows for precise page capture.

"The CR-180II is the latest addition to our CR-Series check transports, which help to decentralize payment processing from the first point of presentment," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, CanonU.S.A. "With its powerful combination of speed, reliability and image quality, the CR-180II is designed to be an integral part of today's electronic check presentment and payment processing."

The Canon CR-180II includes a new intelligent endorsement capability, utilizing Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) data to adjust pre-scan endorsement. Helping to simplify installation, the CR-180II is provided with industry-standard SCSI-III and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interfaces. The CR-180II also has a built-in jogger, and its clam-shell design provides full access to the paper path, allowing users to easily change the imprinter ink cartridge, or perform daily maintenance tasks.

Canon developed the imageFORMULA CR-180II check transport in order to meet the real-world needs of financial institutions, including banks and credit unions. Using the CR 180II, these institutions can now streamline the check clearing process by way of distributed capture and image exchange to help meet electronic payment processing requirements, improving customers' and members' capital management. Additionally, the CR-180II can help companies requiring payment automation, such as utilities, manage thousands of checks and coupons for remittance processing each month and utilize cost effective solutions for end-to-end payment services, such as order fulfillment and tax collections.
