Crawford Technologies announced the availability of AccessibilityNow® SmartSetup, a solution that leverages the company’s AI-powered functionality, called AutoSense, to automatically create templates for making high-volume transactional documents into accessible documents. Meeting the need for enterprise requirements to deliver a wide variety of accessible documents faster, AccessibilityNow SmartSetup enables organizations to significantly reduce the manual burden of setting up the templates that drive document remediation. This can reduce template development time by up to 90%, reducing the costs of delivering accessible documents.
Based on AI, AccessibilityNow SmartSetup automatically detects document boundaries and detailed tagging elements in transactional documents such as figures, lists, tables and paragraphs. It includes a GUI that allows a user to verify that all the correct decisions have been made by the AI engine. It then generates a rules-based template that can be reviewed and edited when needed in AccessibilityNow Designer and used to efficiently process hundreds of thousands of documents in the AccessibilityNow Transactional software. Core benefits of AccessibilityNow SmartSetup include:
- Efficiency and cost savings — Reducing the time it takes organizations to create rules-based templates from weeks to hours, it simplifies and accelerates the document accessibility remediation process, saving time and reducing costs.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements — Automatically ensures documents meet WCAG requirements for compliance with ADA, Section 508, AODA, EAA and other accessibility legislation. With support for PDF/UA and HHS compliance, it takes the guesswork out of meeting accessibility standards.
- Reduced risk of errors — Human error in accessibility implementation is lessened as the built-in preview capability allows the user to verify that the results are correct.
- Scalability — Accessibility operations can scale without a corresponding increase in headcount. As document volume grows, the system handles the additional workload effortlessly, preventing costly violations that impact budget and reputation.
“With document accessibility increasingly becoming an expectation and a legal requirement worldwide, it is essential for organizations to optimize their processing of transactional documents to meet compliance deadlines while maintaining quality,” said Ernie Crawford, president and CEO of Crawford Technologies. “AccessibilityNow SmartSetup mitigates the frustration of managing document accessibility at scale and makes it possible to effectively serve customers who depend on accessible documents for critical information.”
Crawford Technologies will be demonstrating AccessibilityNow SmartSetup at the 40th annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference being held in Anaheim, California from March 10-14, 2025.
