Multi-User Testing Interface and Enhanced Color Controls Improve Print Production Workflows

Solimar Systems announced the release of Solimar® Print Director Enterprise™ (SPDE) version 9.4, featuring a new ReadyPDF® Prepress Console and enhanced color management capabilities. This latest version introduces a multi-user testing interface and improved PDF optimization controls for high-volume production environments.

New ReadyPDF Prepress Console

SPDE 9.4 introduces the ReadyPDF Prepress Console, a new thin-client interface that enables multiple users to test and configure ReadyPDF settings simultaneously without needing to access the SPDE System Manager.

"The ReadyPDF Prepress Console provides a highly flexible and dynamic testing environment for our customers," said Mary Ann Rowan, Solimar Systems Chief Experience Officer. "Development and pre-flight teams can now test, build, and share configurations and templates concurrently, on their personal desktop or laptop."

Key capabilities of the ReadyPDF Prepress Console include:
  • Concurrent multi-user access for collaborative testing and development
  • Template-based configuration management for consistent processing parameters
  • Comprehensive reporting integration with detailed PDF optimization analytics
  • Seamless template export/import to production environments
  • Ad hoc testing functionality that provides leverage of server-based processing

Enhanced Color Management Features

SPDE 9.4 introduces new color modification options in the ReadyPDF module, offering print professionals enhanced control over black color processing. These features help address production considerations related to ink usage, output quality, and color consistency:
  • Rich Black Conversion: Convert rich black combinations to pure black for cost optimization
  • Over-Saturation Prevention: Automatic controls for coverage exceeding 300%
  • Muddy Black Avoidance: Intelligent detection and correction of poor black combinations
  • Near Black Promotion: Automatic optimization of near-black colors to pure black
  • Selective Application: Options to apply modifications to text objects only, preserving image quality

Enterprise-Grade Platform Enhancements

SPDE 9.4 continues Solimar's commitment to supporting the latest enterprise platforms with Windows Server 2025 compatibility, ensuring that customers can leverage the latest Microsoft versions. The release also includes a new Output Intents color profile option, enhanced vector path processing controls, and improved font mapping capabilities.

Additional technical enhancements include:
  • New Compression Options: Enhanced object stream compression for optimal file sizes
  • ReadyPDF-only Interpreters: Economically tune the system for needed conversions
  • Vector Path Optimization: Configurable ripping triggers based on path node density
  • Expanded Font Mapping Controls: New options for implicit font substitution

Customer Benefits

The ReadyPDF Prepress Console addresses workflow efficiency challenges by enabling concurrent testing of applications before they are deployed for production. This helps organizations validate settings and reduce potential production issues.

"Our customers operate in high-volume, production print and mail environments and now have expanded onboarding capabilities," states Mary Ann Rowan, CXO. "The ReadyPDF Prepress Console provides improved productivity from prepress to production print to electronic document creation and delivery."

Feature Availability and Windows 10 Notice

SPDE 9.4 is available immediately to active customers on Solimar's standard update process. As part of its commitment to current technology standards, Solimar Systems will discontinue support for Windows 10 following Microsoft's end-of-support date of October 14, 2025, ensuring customers maintain access to security updates and vendor support.
