Crawford Technologies, provider of innovative document solutions that streamline, improve and manage customer communications, announces the release of AccessibilityNow® Remediate, a standalone PDF remediation tool that makes it possible for an end-user—without extensive document accessibility knowledge—to easily tag documents for accessibility. AccessibilityNow Remediate solves one of the biggest challenges in the document remediation world with its ability to allow organizations to cost effectively remediate existing non-compliant static documents, reducing turnaround from hours to minutes.
With digital accessibility regulations increasing globally, there are increasing risks of organizations being penalized for not providing digital documents to customers and employees in accessible formats compliant with WCAG and PDF/UA standards. Because of this, there is a pressing need for ways to convert fully composed, non-accessible documents into fully compliant accessible PDFs as efficiently as possible. AccessibilityNow Remediate was expressly built to answer this need.
“We have frequently heard from customers that existing remediation tools are not user friendly, take too long to process documents, cost too much and require extensive document accessibility training, especially for tables and lists,” said Ernie Crawford, president and CEO of Crawford Technologies. “AccessibilityNow Remediate has the ease of use and intuitive tagging that make this possible and allows users to tag complex tables and nested lists quickly and efficiently. We are excited by the capability it brings to the market.”
AccessibilityNow Remediate was purpose-built to offer the following features:
- Customizable settings to match document structure
- Runs in a Windows desktop environment
- Intuitive tagging tool that does not require expert document accessibility knowledge
- Automatic sensing capability, which detects possible document accessibility elements and makes suggestions to end users
- Easy-to-use, stand-alone, GUI-driven tool
- Dramatically simplifies the tagging process for tables and lists
- Provides a full GUI interface without requiring Adobe Acrobat
- Generates WCAG and PDF/UA compliant documents
- Incorporates automation and machine learning
AccessibilityNow Remediate can also provide tag finishing capabilities for Crawford Technologies’ AccessibilityNow Publisher, software that automates the PDF tagging process in an automated fashion under a workflow or robotic process automation (RPA) system or called through an API.
Crawford Technologies will be showcasing AccessibilityNow Remediate at the upcoming M-Enabling Summit October 4-6, 2021, where the company will present and demonstrate Remediate at the Thought Leadership Session, “Document Accessibility: Find, Test and Fix.” For a customized demonstration, attendees can stop by the Crawford Technologies booth #13.
