Christopher Crowley, The Crowley Company president, announces today that Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. (Konica Minolta) has signed on as a U.S. reseller of the UScan+ Universal Film scanner. “Konica Minolta enjoys a substantial market share for scanners of this type.” says Crowley. “For a company of this stature to recognize the salability and features of the UScan+ reinforces what we’ve known all along – that the market for high-tech, high-quality, low-cost reader-scanners continues to be strong.”
“Partnering with The Crowley Company to offer the UScan+ through Konica Minolta sales channels will allow us to expand our product offerings further to include micrographics equipment,” says Kevin Kern, senior vice president, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.
About the UScan+
The term “universal film” signifies that the UScan+ can read and digitize from any microform including microfilm, microfiche, aperture cards, photographic negatives, slides and more. The Uscan+ scans in grayscale, bi-tonal and color. It is the first scanner of its type to offer USB3 capability, which allows for real-time full resolution viewing of scanned images. The UScan+ is engineered with a precision lens and learned auto-focus, auto-zoom and auto-frame functions for efficiency and accuracy. The scanner also offers the options of OCR (via Nuance) and RapidScan, Crowley’s custom automated full roll, low-volume batch scanning software. Output options include CD/DVD, USB, cloud, email and more. The scanner operates via a tile interface powered by touchscreen or mouse and fits easily on a desktop.
Matthew McCabe, Crowley Company vice president, explains that the UScan+, which is manufactured by Crowley’s Wicks and Wilson division, fulfills several market demands: the replacement of aging microfilm readers; the demand for progressive technology; and easy patron use. “Typical users of a UScan+ include public and academic libraries, county clerk offices, insurance companies and engineering firms. Patrons or employees of these organizations may be searching for land records, insurance policies, genealogy records, project research, corporate archives or engineering drawings.”
