Kodak continues to enhance and expand capabilities of its KODAK Capture Pro Software portfolio by announcing two new releases, KODAK Capture Pro Software, v2.5 and KODAK Capture Pro Software Auto Import Edition. The new releases include features that advance how business professionals manage scanned documents and digital files. Product availability is expected for April 2010.

"Capture Pro Software enables numerous organizations to implement an affordable, yet powerful capture platform to change how they make, manage and move their critical business information," said Tony Barbeau, General Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "We used customer input to develop an expanded suite of tools in Capture Pro Software, v2.5 and the all-new Auto Import Edition, both providing a new level of accuracy and flexibility. From the increased data indexing capabilities to improved connectivity for MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server, including the upcoming SHAREPOINT 2010, and SaaS solutions, these new applications allow businesses to do more, more easily."

KODAK Capture Pro Software, v2.5 benefits many different types of applications, with new functionality for digitizing paper-based tasks, including accounts receivable, claims processing and backfile conversions. Extending Capture Pro Software, v2.5 capability to be a part of a custom workflow, it includes an enhanced capability to automatically start a specific process when output processing has been finalized, allowing the integration into customized workflows. This provides customers with a wider range of options to develop powerful, front-end auditing, validation and other business processes.

Capture Pro Software, v2.5 also increases speed and accuracy, building upon automated features originally included in v2.0, announced last year. New capabilities add versatility for importing files with auto import for existing PDF files, preservation of imported file names for indexing, and enhanced automatic document separation logic.

The all-new KODAK Capture Pro Software Auto Import Edition creates a dedicated capture platform for environments without an attached scanner, performing the same powerful image processing as Capture Pro Software for document scanners. Auto Import Edition introduces the ideal solution for unattended monitoring and importing of document images and information into business applications. The new release adds greater consistency and protection for businesses' investments in decentralized capture devices, helping to lower total implementation costs.

Auto Import Edition utilizes features from Capture Pro Software to help businesses organize images and files from multiple, shared locations. These imaging capabilities allow users to index, import and output content and data from various locations. Indexing and output functions can import structured and unstructured data, regardless of the image's original source, including fax, e-mail, multi-function peripherals (MFPs), image repositories, specialized scanners and other devices.

"Reducing manual data entry and increasing data integrity are key drivers behind a series of new improvements," said Tim Mortenson, Director, Solutions Software, Document Imaging, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "Our customers have very specific needs for document capture software, such as establishing an audit trail. Expanded image stamping functionality gives businesses full control over variable and fixed data, which can be digitally embedded as part of the physical image, for example, to display document metadata that may not be present on each page of the original."

A new indexing application program interface (API) offers custom data validation. In addition to existing capabilities for automatic indexing, users also can use the last entered value for manual indexing. Enhanced optical character recognition (OCR) includes customizable dictionaries, output as text, and multiple language selection for OCR output.

"Customers increasingly need capture applications that can automate those end-to-end business processes impacted by paper-based documents," Mortenson said. "Capture Pro Software enables users to take full advantage of some of the best document imaging technology available. Businesses can invest in this application to help initiate critical business processes, meet compliance demands, and provide their workforce with rapid access to digitized information."
