Accusoft Pegasus, the leading provider of imaging software development kits (SDKs), announces the release of the Barcode Xpress v6 SDK, providing new support for 64-bit applications. Using the Barcode Xpress SDK, software developers can easily index documents, automate workflows, and integrate barcode reading and writing into applications. The toolkit is now available for AnyCPU .NET and for 32-bit or 64-bit ActiveX development.

Barcode Xpress v6 offers engineers the ability to build applications targeting both 64-bit and 32-bit architectures. The included .NET components are now compiled as AnyCPU. Barcode Xpress v6 includes sample programs for Visual Studio 2005 and 2008, and is fully compliant for use in .NET Framework 2.0 and higher. The ActiveX components are now available for 32-bit or 64-bit application development.

Further improvements to 2D barcode recognition accuracy, including DataMatrix, are also included. Version 6 also adds direct support for barcode recognition within grayscale and color images.

Barcode Xpress delivers accurate, high-speed reading and writing of 1D barcodes such as Code 128 and Code 39, and high-capacity, error-correcting 2D barcodes including PDF417, QR Code, and DataMatrix. This SDK will locate single and multiple instances of barcodes anywhere on a page, decode them, and return the content along with confidence values. It is supported in multiple development environments, including .NET, ActiveX/COM, Java, and Java ME, for mobile applications.

Paul Firth, Product Manager for Accusoft Pegasus, said, "With this release, we've opened the door for our customers to deliver world-class barcode reading on all Windows platforms, taking full advantage of 64-bit multi-core servers that are today's document processing workhorses. We continue to offer solutions for Linux, Unix, and mobile platforms. All of them enable developers to add advanced barcode features to their applications with just a few lines of code."
